About MeHi, my name is Kristine Nutt and I am a Master's-Level Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-18419) and Certified Mediator. I have a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina-Asheville. I specialize in helping those struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health issues. I work with children (7-12), older adolescents (16+), adults, and families.
I have years of experience working with clients and their families dealing with addiction, substance use, and complex mental health issues including mood disorders, trauma, dissociative disorders, and severe mental illnesses. I am originally from the South and grew up near Asheville, North Carolina. I love the outdoors and can often be found hiking or biking with my husband and two daughters. Qualifications, Background, and ExperienceI have extensive training and experience as a therapist, interventionist, and recovery coach working with individuals and family members affected by substance use, mental health issues, and compulsive sexual behaviors. I have over twenty years of experience working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, the school system, private practice, and was part of a pilot program with the National Center for PTSD and FEMA.
I am trained in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I previously served as an examiner for the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board, and have presented at local, state, and national conferences. I have had the opportunity to work for some of the most highly respected treatment programs in the country and have years of experience working with clients and their families dealing with complex issues and situations. I believe the therapeutic relationship is key, and look forward to meeting you to see if we are a good fit. My style is meeting people where they are with a compassionate and nonjudgmental approach. Therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” approach and I believe in many pathways to recovery. Through my personal and professional experience, I know how difficult asking for help and finding resources can be. My passion is helping anyone who wants help and love working with both the individual and family.
