Biblical Counseling

What makes counseling "biblical?"
Biblical counseling is an approach that recognizes that the Bible is our primary source of guidance in regard to personal growth. Ultimately, it is God who changes us, but He reveals Himself through Scripture. As Christians, we believe that the Bible contains everything needed to be saved, sanctified, and to grow as believers. Therefore, it is our primary source of inspiration and guidance for change.
What biblical counseling is not.
The biblical counseling we provide does not negate clinical factors in emotional distress. The biblical counseling movement has matured over the years to incorporate clinical insight as well as theological understanding. We leave clinical issues to the medical professional, but in providing spiritual care, we don’t “overspiritualize” issues that might have a mental or physiological cause.
What happens in a biblical counseling session.
Does this mean that the Bible is used during sessions? Is prayer utilized? Sometimes. Most of it is a discussion around personal issues from a biblical perspective. Working with a biblical counselor can help you pinpoint patterns in your thinking and relationship that are causing so much pain. You can feel close to God and others again.
